Horror classic will come to life at Rochdale Town Hall this Halloween

Halloween will be a little different this year, when Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde come to life at Rochdale Town Hall.

There have been more than a dozen movie versions of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde featuring stars including Christopher Lee, Anthony Perkins, Michael Caine, Joss Ackland, Julia Roberts and John Malkovich.

The town hall’s Gothic setting is the perfect backdrop for the 1920’s original silent version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic horror tale, starring John Barrymore, Martha Mansfield and Brandon Hurst.

The spooky scenes will be brought to life on the big screen with live organ accompaniment.

“And on Halloween night, this century-old tale will be brought spectacularly back to life by acclaimed organist Aaron Hawthorne, returning for his third annual visit to Rochdale Town Hall, performing a completely live accompaniment on the mighty pipe organ in the grand hall.

“Expect thunderous drama, eerie whispers, spine-tingling suspense and all the excitement of experiencing a silent film as audiences did in the early days of cinema, with every moment underscored live before your eyes and ears.
